vital records visit
I went to the dept of vital records yesterday in Dorchester. Out of curiosity while I was there I looked up my current (adoptive) birth certificate. To my surprise, it wasn't listed!? I asked the woman behind the desk for a possible explanation, and she replied, it's probably because it's a corrected certificate because I was adopted. I explained to her that my older brother, who is also adopted, WAS listed there. That really got me wondering, can anyone help with a possible explanation? I'm currently in the process of petitioning the courts of Suffolk county to open my adoption records. Thanks for any help!

No thoughts on the missing records (they're not going to admit to ineptitude, are they?), but let me definitely nudge you to petition the court. I did, and I got all my info. Just make sure that you give them a valid reason. You need to convince them that your need for the info (medical?) outweighs the need for privacy of the parties involved.
