FBI background checks
Does anyone know the current timeframe/turn around time for getting the FBI background check in Maryland?

We live in MD - just got ours back a week ago - ours took THREE MONTHS. Yikes.

Thanks...we have someone new living with us so we had to get an addendum to our homestudy. We sent the cards in at the end of December. We received the state background check back about a month ago and we're still waiting on the FBI.

Our state ones arrived in about the same timeframe as yours - there must be a backlog with the FBI version. I was starting to think we'd never get it - but one day they just showed up

Congrats!
A few days ago I was talking to a friend who adopted almost 5 years ago and she was amazed we weren't done with our HS study - turns out back in the pre-9/11 days FBI clearance took about a week!

We just mailed ours off on Monday...so I'll let you know. We sent ours directly to the FBI Special Correspondence Unit in WV and noted "International Adoption" on the DHL packet...so, I'll let you know how long it takes!

Our only took a week.. (post 9/11) but we went to the FBI building in Baltimore and had them done on site, by the computer - we were told that was quicker and boy was it..
