Has your friend put herself on the Maryland Registry? Has she contacted the agency and had a "I want" contact note put in the file? I am not sure if a CI would be allowe to help her...I do know that adoptees in Maryland can go throught the CI system.

Hi Barb,
She is just starting the process and unfamiliar with what she needs to do. She has decided to register and is figuring out how to do that. What is a CI?

A CI is a Confidental Intermediary..they work with or for the Dept. of Social Services. They find the person you are looking for (for a fee of course) and they make contact...if the person wants contact they will call you. If they do not want contact..you have lost your money because they will do nothing else and will not (because of the law) give you any information. They are State workers. They found my birthmother in 3 weeks..and my birthfather in 6 months. I paid 250.00 for their services (this was discounted because my records were in the same building with them.) The fee is based on your income. I am not sure if they will do a search for a birthmom looking for kids...yet. If you want some contact numbers I can give them to you.
