Here is some information that might be helpful to you for searching in Manitoba, Canada.


General Searching Information for Adoptees born in Canada and taken to the USA.
If anyone was born in Canada and adopted by American adoptive parents and taken to the United States, contact the US Dept. of Immigration and obtain a copy of your Entry Visa. This form should show your full birth name. This is required for all persons taking up permanent residence in the U.S.


Registry
Birthmother, birthfathers, and adult birth siblings should contact Child and Family Services or the Post Adoption Registry to get their name on the list for searches.
Even though you are registered it will be necessary to complete a request for search form.

Those entitled to register under The Adoption Act are:
birth parents of an adoptee
adult adoptee
adoptive parents, with consent of the adult adoptee, or if the adoptee is deceased
adult birth siblings of an adoptee
adult adoptive sibling of an adoptee, if the adoptee is deceased
Even though you are presently registered, you have to request a search. Registrations and requests for a search are to be sent to:

Non-Identifying Information
Adult adoptees, birthparents, birth siblings, and adoptive parents may request non-identifying information. Even if a veto has been registered, non-identifying information will still be provided on request. Adoptees should request a photocopy of the non-identifying information on their birthparents. Birthparents and birth siblings should request a copy of the non-identifying information on the adoptive parents.

Active Search
Active on behalf of adult adoptees, birthmothers, birthfathers and siblings. Adoptees should be sure to specify they want contact with any member of their biological family.
