I met my Granddaughter today!
I'm speechless. She's beautiful. She ran straight into my arms, then demanded I take off my shoes so we could compare feet.
I'll write more when I catch my breath. Thank you my friends for sharing this monumental moment. Love, Kim

Hi Guys!
Everything went well, I wasn't even nervous! I didn't cry, she didn't cry, but her Mom did when she spoke of the death of my son. Heartwrenching. My Granddaughter couldn't take her eyes off me. She wanted to compare hands, feet, noses, etc...it was so cute. It's going to be a while before we're close. She's got a lot to process, and that's ok. I could sense a little hostility on her part, but I understand. She kinda has that "he's not here and you are!" thing going on. She needs time. She kept telling me how much I looked like her Dad. It was obvious she loved her Dad very much. Wish me luck in the future! I think it will be ok. She's such a smart and pretty girl! Kim

I'm so happy for you Kim, I've been thinking of you. Your granddaughter is gorgeous, & is very lucky to have you in her life. That feet thing is adorable. It's obvious she feels comfortable around you already - in a few years time she'll be ringing you to pick her up at 1am!!!

Kim, what a gorgeous picture!!! I am sure you have a lot to process (I am so sorry about the loss of your son), and so will she, but it sounds like a fantastic first meeting. So wonderful!! Keep us posted!
