Found by birth-aunt

Well, after several attempts to locate my birth family, my birth aunt found me. We are taking things really slow and have only talked on the phone. Am considering going up to where they are to meet them over the summer. Any ideas?

How exciting and incredibly special. Taking it slow is a good thing, finding out how you fit in their lives and vice versa is what will make a strong relationship.

Meeting my family was surreal...seeing, hearing them talk, personalities similar...it is just exciting and overwhelming.

Read books on reunion, what birth mothers went through, what other adoptees have gone through.

Make sure you have a place to stay away from the family, you will be overwhelmed and probably need a quiet place. Take a camera, take a note pad. But in reality just enjoy getting to meet them and get to know them.

Take care,
Dickons

That is great news. I think that an intermediary like an aunt makes things run a lot smoother in the reunion. My biological aunt is the one who took me away from my bmother so I would love nothing more than to meet her. If nothing else to get more groundwork on what went on those early years.

You have great news though! Relish in it!
