Help With Search Letter - Have Last Name

Here's a brief synopsis of where I am stuck at ... I am seeking any input available at this time:

I have pictures from my foster mother in which my birth last name is written on the back. I know that my mother was 17 at that time and had a younger brother and sister. I reside in NJ where it's next to impossible to get info. I am considering sending letters to people with the last name I was born with in the counties around the hospital I was born in hopes of finding some relatives (especially since it's not a very common last name).

Please give some advice on what I should write in the letter. I am cynical by nature and am fully aware that I don't want to divulge too much information in the initial letter.

I once got a letter from a search place with its name on the envelope and it was delivered to my neighbor..
I would have been real upset if I had not known my neighbor well..

I would keep the letter neutral and put 'maybe' type questions in it..

good luck in your search..

Jackie

I live in NJ...

PM me if you like. I live in the Southern part of the state, in Burlington County but very near Camden County.

Thanks for the assistance. I sent the letter and birthmother was found within 2 weeks of beginning my search. I am meeting her on Saturday!
