What month was you reunited with bfamily/bchild?

On another thread it turned out that there are a few of us that were first reunited in the month of August (different years) so I am now curious as to what is the most 'popular' month for the start of reunion.

Okay- I posted on the other one, but want to make you "look good" here, so I'll "go" first.

Got the "letter" on June 30, first f2f on July 15.

I got my first contact in the last month of the last century..

December 1999..

I met him in March or April.. (pretty sure April) in 2001.

I found my post on alt.adoption so I have the exact date.. (cutting and pasting)

Date: Mon, 23 Apr 2001 Subject: Re: My trip.. to the west.. by Jackie C.

>Jackie - how long is it until you actually meet? I'm anxiously
>waiting for you and sending you all my good thoughts :-)

>Julia

It happened yesterday.. Sunday..

Hubby and I went to his home.. and had a very pleasant visit.. Hubby
kept the talk going which I really appreciated..

I have a feeling I am going to get to know this man..

It was so very very strange looking at my son.. after not having seen
him grow..
He will meet my dad at the end of May..

I am very pleased..

Jackie

Here is a post about my trip out west..

Jackie C Apr 16 2001, 8:56 pm
Newsgroups: alt.adoption
From: Jackie C <jda...@newsguy.com>
It all went very well..

Toronto to Chicago was very interesting.. or not..
Crossing the border was not nice.. The border guards do not like
people that do not speak good english.. they are total racists.. IMO

The woman sitting in front of me was from Mexico and was working in
Toronto.. Well they went nuts with her.. they took her into
immigration and made her cry..
And she was perfectly legal.. We were all worried about her..
When she came back on the train.. She was a total wreck for a while..
We all talked with her and calmed her down.. and she ended up
smiling..

I ended up in Chicago.. whew..

I put my heavy luggage in a locker.. the lockers there are very good..
the ones in the train station..You put a dollar fifty in the money
slot.. and you get a ticket with a code on in.. and then you keep that
ticket and when you come back.. you get to pay more money to retrieve
your luggage.. but I think it is very safe cause when you re-close the
locker they give you a different code.. so how can anyone rob it..

I asked where the subway was.. and off I went..
I am used to subways.. so I knew what to do.. but ohhhhh it was a
little scary.. cause they do not really color code their stations..
but I got the directions.. and headed on my way.. I had to walk down a
tunnel.. so I walked very fast to keep up with everyone..
I finally found the red line.. whew..
I got on the red line and went north.. this was rush hour.. so I felt
sort of safe.. I got off at Bryn Myr.. or something like that..
It was just like being on ER the TV show ER..
I was on the EL.. I did enjoy looking down at the real Chicago..
I got my motel and it was okay.. it was clean.. it was not fancy but
it was only $52 American per nite..
I found a restaurant.. and read the newspaper waiting for my dinner..
well headlines in the newspaper was that the guards or drivers on the
EL were not coming to the aid of passengers.. being robbed.. Oh Oh I
said..
Then I read about a guy that painted the graffiti.. on the EL getting
killed by touching the electricity.. on the EL .
Poor guy..

But I had a good nites sleep.. In the morning I found the local
Starbucks.. and had a wonderful cup of coffee while watching the
regulars..

And got to the train station.. on the EL with the regular commuters..
and yes I talked with the guy next to me telling him I was heading to
Seattle.. and yes I made him all envious..
So I got my luggage stored at the train station.. and set out.. for
the Art Institute.. It was the free day..
I saw my beloved.. Impressionist paintings.. the haystacks by Monet..
and the Seruat..
and then there was a special exhibit called.. Beyond the Easel..
And I saw some paintings by Vuillard..
I was totally blown away.. He paints or painted like I want to paint.
he paints large panels or screens.. Distemper on paper..
I can not remember what distemper is but I will sort it.. I think it
is a form of water base.. opaque paints..
The colors were glorious..
I took in what I could and then left..

I then got ready to get on the Empire Builder.. That train follows the
trail for some of the way.. that Lewis and Clark used..
I was the first one on my car.. the one that went right through to
Seattle.. so I got a good seat.. and I was able to keep my own seat,
for just me, for the whole journey..
It was just amazing.. I had my music, my CD walkman.. and I just sat
and watched the scenery.. and read my book..

I saw Georgia Okeefe.. in the land.. her paintings.. I keep seeing
them.. when I go west..
At the Art Institute.. I saw one of her desert paintings. beige in the
front.. and electric blue in the sky.. the sky just shouted.. at me..

Then we got to the mountains.. and I realized that we would go through
Glacier National park in the nite.. but that was okay.. I saw some
amazing things before it got dark and when it got light in the
morning..I saw the Columbia Gorge..
The earth there is lava rocks.. The scenery is wondeful.

And the man in front of me knew the place where my bson lives..
he was able to point out, to me, where to go.. I was able to see where
to go when hubby and I visit next week..

I then got off the train in Seattle.. and got a bus to Vancouver..

I was starving in Vancouver and had a hamburger.. and I was so tired..
I left my purse with all my documents and all my money.. in
McDonalds...
I went to get my pen out of my purse after I had collected my
luggage.. and no purse..
I went running back to McDonalds..and a man was sitting next to my
purse and looking at me..He said he was about to turn it in..

I did not loose my money or my documents.. I was very lucky..

So all is well, and all is on track..
and I am connected.. but I could not get connected by my usual way and
I have to use AOL.. and I can not send mail through my Agent..
Or I have not sorted it yet..
So thanks all for the personal letters.. and I will reply when I can
sort how to do it..

Love Jackie

My son and I had our first phone conversation, first email and then first ftf in August 2001.

Hard to believe we'll be together 4 years soon!

I'm glad I started this thread off - August is definitely the most common month to date. Hope more people respond now .

Nope, responded the same day, for some reason I felt the need to check my email so took an extended lunch and walked to the nearest library to do so.
