On the other side of adoption
I don't know exactly what the rules were or what sort of adoption it was (pretty sure it was closed), but my father and another woman had a little boy four years before I was born and then put him up for adoption. I've always wanted to meet him, but am not allowed to contact him. He's over 18 now and I know he's allowed to contact me (but doubt if he will). My question is, when I turn 18 and we're both technically adults, do the rules go away and I can find him? My whole life I've wanted to meet him. I'm the oldest in my family and have always dreamed of having a big brother and I'd really just like to see him, even once, but I don't know if it's legal or not.
Any help you have would be greatly appreciated, Alex |

Once you’re both adults you are free to search for each other…sometimes even with the assistance of the state.
