Okay. so i am in search of my birthmother or father. i have narrowed it down to 5 possible people i think. I need help writing a letter to them. I would like to include my name, birthdate, hospital, city, state, county, doctor, atty that handled case etc. i am not sure how to write it. i would also like to include why i am searching, what info i would like, the fact that I DONT WANT TO BE INTRUSIVE and i just want general information and anything else they feel comfortable giving me. could anyone please help me with it. oh i would also like to include the fact that if they are who i am looking for that i would appreciate a return letter either way.. please help me.. i am sooo anxious... thank you

Following is part of a contact letter I wrote and had the social worker send to my biological Father as if she wrote it. His identity had already been confirmed but it still may give you some ideas. Best of Luck!

Although your biological daughter is not necessarily requesting contact, she is not adverse to contact, if you were receptive. She will respect your privacy and will honor your decision whichever way it goes. She has no intent or desire to intrude on your life in any way if her getting in touch is not welcome. Any information that you would choose to share about your life or feelings would be most appreciated by her. She does have a desire to know about you and your life. If you have any questions she would be happy to share information in return.

However, if it is your desire to not have contact or share information about your life or feelings, she would very much appreciate updated medical information from the time of her birth until now. A medical questionnaire is enclosed which would complete her medical history. While this may seem a request for your personal information from a stranger, think how it would feel to draw a line through medical history and write "unknown" every time you went to the doctor. If agreeable to you she would also appreciate pictures. Again, think about never having looked at another person or photograph and seen a resemblance to yourself. Most people take the ability to recognize the similarities of genetics for granted. A photo from the time period of her birth and/or a more recent photo would be appreciated. If there have been subsequent children, pictures of any siblings would also be most welcome to her.

If it was your desire for your biological daughter to have a quality of life that you were unable to give her, at that time in your life, she would like you to know that your desire was indeed met. She has had a good life and was brought up in a loving home. She has no anger or bitterness about being surrendered for adoption. She is leaving the decision for further contact up to you.
