Wish me Luck
I was adopted when I was two (nearly 26 yrs ago). Last year I decided to trace my b-parents.
I am based in the UK and they were both on the central register set up by the government in 1991. Having spoken, written and e-mailed both, I have arranged to meet them. Will go visit b-d at the end of March. B-m is coming to visit on Thursday. Hopefully it will go well, no reason why it shouldn't. Anyway, will let you know how it goes. |

I wish you tons of good luck with both reunions. I am planning a reunion with my birthson in June. Some really great advice that I have been given, is take it slow and be sure to bring a camera.

Good luck!
Hi susspa - how exciting...we're counting down until you meet your bmom! I just spent some time with my bmom last week....I think my emotions are still not totally settled yet. Wow, have fun and do keep us in the loop!

Success!
Well it all went well. We met at Paddington on Thursday evening and I dropped her off there this morning.
Was a little nervous on tube on the way there but weekend went v well. She met my adoptive parents and their spouses (they divorced in 1991) and all went v well. Think it helped that she's a v easy going individual and v easy to chat to. Will see how everything pans out - have a whole raft of relatives who haven't seen me since I was about 1-2 plus some who have only just found out about me (at least oficcially - half brother and sister). Still when I embarked on the search it was more about finding out about the past and her present and the future was an unknown. It still is, but it's promising nonetheless. I'm sure you can talk about "honeymoon periods" and the various stages of reunion ( I think each stage has substages) - i.e. the first time you write, the first time you talk, the first time you see each other etc etc. And my doubt of whether or not I wanted to send a mothers day card has been resolved (I shall). Next step is to visit her and the rest of the "family" Suze |

I'm so glad things went well for you! Yes, there is a honeymoon period, but I think the first meeting tells a lot about how the relationship will grow. Sounds like you guys have a good base for a great relationship! |

Hey Suspa
I am so glad to hear that your reunion went well. You sound like you are in a really good place. You are moving forward - normally - and taking some time to get to know one another. It's also great that you introduced her to your family and that she wants you to meet your bfamily. All secrets are out and the door is open. Sounds great!
