I found my daughter online in the Search Registry, but I can't contact her. She updated her profile online about a month ago, so I know she is looking for me. I've written two emails through here, but I have no way of knowing if she got them or they came back due to a bad email address.

I thought I found her a few times before, but every email I sent I got back with an email address problem. What I need to know is if I will get some sort of notice if the mail comes back? Or will it just come back to here at Adoption Forum and I won't know?

This is driving me nuts! I wish I knew if she was getting my letters or if they came back with a notice of a bad email addy.

If anyone knows about this, please let me know.

If you send an email, and there is a problem with the email addy...or with the mail box itself...then you will get a rejected message from her email server....altho, some ISP's allow email to be sent to a closed account, and never bounce it back...

just technically, what I think is, if you send an email through a website to someone, as opposed to sending directly to a full email address, there is no assurance you will get a bounce back message or any info that would tell you if she actually got the message and read it.

How old is yoour daughter? What state is she in? When is her birthdate? I am looking for my birthmom. I always ask these questions, due to the fact it has been a hrad search for me. I hope I did not offend you. Good luck in your search.

I was afraid that I wouldn't get the returned email back. I keep hoping that she checks her email once a month or something. BUT, the thing I don't get is this: she updated her profile a little over a month ago, so I know she is still interested in finding me. I'm thinking that her email addy must be correct, but maybe she isn't into computer stuff and doesn't look at it much. I have so much info on her, yet I can't make contact. So frustrating! Now I'm wondering if she did get the letters, and then got scared and doesn't want contact with me. So many things going through my head and all I can do is wait. Thanks for letting me vent.

She was born in NJ in 1979.

You may have already thought of this, as this was the first other option to pop into my head.. if you have so much info on her, I assume you know her name and where she is located? If then, try searching at www.whitepages.com with her name, city and state and perhaps a telephone number will be found for you.

Hope this helps. Also, is your daughter on AOL? There is a way to see if she has read your messages... but it's been so long since I've had AOL, I can't exactly remember how to do it

Alliecat, I've been through all those White pages stuff. I searched every type of directory. They have an unlisted phone number, so nothing is posted except her name and town.

Hi,
I don't know what email program you are using, but when you are using outlook express it would be under tools after you "create" mail.

HI Laura, just read your posting about trying to contact your daughter. I am going to give you two websites to go to and you should be able to find her. I found my niece this way..
Go to anybirthday.com. Put in her name and birthday. Her name will come up and it will show last known zip code. Than go to the United States Postal Web site and find out where the zip code goes to.
And last go to find.intelius.com. Go to advanced search, put in her name and state. You should find her. This site is decieving, it appears as though you have to pay to get the information. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY to get the basic information. If you want her phone number address and background info, than you pay. After you find out for sure what state she is in, than try the white pages. This intelius site will also list anyone that is living in the same house with her. So maybe the phone is listed in thier name. I know it sounds like alot of work, but 30 min of searching and hopefully you will find her. Let me know if you need some help. I love to help people
