That sounds like a good book.
I just got a call ftrom our pastor. He will be out of town on Sunday and asked me to deliver the children's sermon, based on Galations 3:23-29. He suggested likening the law to a babysitter. Any ideas? I am praying God will give me some inspiration and guidance. Maybe through you, Kathy?

It went really well for first service. 2nd service was not quite as good, because there were only a few kids... and I think the oldest was in kindergarten! Sadly all three of my kids missed it as they came down with a tummy bug the night before! Or maybe that was a blessing?

Kathy, where have you been lately? My last children's sermon went so well that this coming Sunday, when Pastor is out of town, he has asked me to do the children's sermon again. So, I am back to praying, so that the Holy Spirit can speak through me again.

How did it go? I'm sorry. I was on vacation. The internet was only available by dial-up and we had at least four competing computers. (I ususally lost to my nephews and grandson!)

It went really well. I based my sermon on Luke 11:1-12
Hope your vacation was wonderful!

The gospel does not dismiss the law, it fulfills it. When we are followers of, believers in Christ we don't need to become righteous to serve him, by serving him he are made righteous.

I have not been around this thread much lately. I am on the call committee for our church for a new pastor. We have selected someone and our council has approved. I am excited. We are having a congregational meeting in two weeks to have the final vote, but I am sure it will pass. So, lots of excitement in our church right now!!!!

Congratulations, Lorraine! Keep praying for the pastor and your congregation that everyone will discern God's will for all of you. Perhaps your committee could agree to continue to pray of the pastor as your ministry together begins.

Mrsred, when I'm talking about preaching law, I'm talking about using the law as mirror or hammer to reveal our sinful natures. At the minute, there's a lot of self-righteousness circulating the one congregation I serve. We have a deep need to focus on GOD's righteousness instead.
