Trying to find my Grandmother
My mother was adopted. My mother has given me permission to try and locate my grandmother. She has given all the info. that she has. Which unfortanatlly is not alot. I do know that she and her mother stayed at "Volunteers of America" in Shreveport I do believe. She was born August 25, 1942. Her mother was in her late teens or early 20's. And her last name was Redwine. She is not sure of her first name. She believes it was either Vera or Velma. My grandmother was from a large family. And she did not live in Shreveport, she lived in a nearby town. My mother has informed me that the "Volunteers of America" that they stayed in has burned down. I hope this does not stop me from finding my family, and finding out more about who I am and why I am who I am. If there is ANYONE who may beable to help me, or tell me where I should look PLEASE contact me by e-mail.

REDWINE
Laura - OK. This is wierd. I read that name - Redwine - in the Shreveport Times sometime within the last few weeks. I remember it because it was so unusual. I just looked in the phone book (I'm from Shreveport) and there are 4 families with that name in this area. NO Vera or Velma, though. Where do you guys live? Let me know if I can help with anything? Hmmm, what are the odds, huh?

9/1/56, VOA, Female, Touro Infirmary
Female born 9/1/56 looking for birthmom, BF and 3 1/2 brothers. My birthmom was born and resided in Alabama at the time, she was 26 years old. She had 3 sons, born in 46, 51 and 55. She had 1 brother (my uncle) age 29. She named me "Becky" at birth. The last name is scratched out on the birth certificate #A.3743. She was not married at the time. I was delivered by C-Section and she had a hysterectomy following my delivery. My BF was married. He was 48 years old and employed as a contractor. He had one sister (my aunt). He also resided in Alabama.
My birthmom was admitted into the maternity home in May 1956 and was discharged in Sept. 1956. I believe the name of it was Caring Alternatives, through VOA. She had 2 years of High School and was employed as a Sales Person. Please help me locate my family. Thank you so much. |
