Male adoptee born March 26, 1962 seeks Bfamily

Hello, I was adopted in NewOrleans, Louisiana in 1962. My date of birth was march 26; 8:04pm based on the certificate I hold in my possession. Though I am not absolutely certain, I recall being told being adopted thru Sellers Baptist Childrens Home. Regardless, I could not have stayed long as my adoptive parents were aware of me / offered for adoption within a few days of birth. Due to regulation at the time, and research into their background, I believe I stayed at Sellers no more than 4 - 6 weeks.. I would sincerely love to hear from anyone having information regarding my family!

Hello Carolyn, Sorry, didnt realize I had omitted that, lol.. My name is martin (originally vincent), and thus, a male. But I believe I was born in New Orleans so I am unlikely to be the one you seek.. Sorry...and best of luck to you!..

Sincerely,
Martin

What is the Louisiana Adoption Registry?

The Louisiana Adoption Registry is a registry established by the Department of Social Services to facilitate voluntary contact between adult adoptees, their birth parents and/or siblings.

Who may register?

You may register if you are over 18 and your adoption, your child’s or your sibling’s adoption was legally finalized in the State of Louisiana.

How do I get on the registry?

Contact the registry at (225) 342-9922 or 1-800-259-2456 and request a Voluntary Registry packet which will provide all the information necessary for registration. The process includes completion of an affidavit and a $25.00 fee. There is also a counseling requirement that must be met prior to voluntary release of any identifying information, but this is not required in order to register.

Where do I write?

Should you prefer to write us, send your letter to:

The Louisiana Voluntary
Adoption Registry
Post Office Box 3318
Baton Rouge, LA 70821

And indicate whether you are an adoptee, birth parent or sibling and include your name, mailing address, and phone number. We will send you a registry packet or call you if we have questions.

If you have further questions, you may call the Registry at (225)-342-9922 or 1-800-259-2456.
