Searching for siblings

I have a brother that was adopted in New York State, and a sister that was adopted in New Jersey, what I would like to know is if the laws that prevent my mom from having any contact with them affect me also. If i do sign up with any registries, will I even be able to get at least non identifying information about them?

searching for siblings

Sorry that I don't have the answer to your question, other than you can do records searches if you know the names and approx ages.
I have a question, how do you know the states that they were adopted in? We are searching for our 2 yr old sons infant birth brother so we can adopt him. We know his name & birthdate, but not the state he was born in.

my mom held onto their birth certificates and had their medical records also, it's pretty hard to find out where they are exactly because they are both under 18. My mom also told me that she dealt with the state when they were adopted, so their adoptioins were through the state agencies. By the way, what state do you live in? I live in NJ which is where my sister was adopted, I know this because when I contacted DFYS they asked me her name and birthdate and said they will send me an application for the adoption registry if she was adopted through them. I got my application last week and sent it back so when she wants to look for me, my info will be there. Maybe you can do the same in the state you live in.
