We just had our newly adopted son sealed to us last Saturday. It was wonderful. He had been blessed the previous Sunday but they didn't ask about it so I don't think it was necessary. They just needed to see the adoption cert and birth cert. They also told us that if we adopt again he can come and see the sealing of his brother or sister if he is under 8. This was at the Preston Temple in England.
Parenthood is wonderful. We're so happy with our little fellah, Andre. He was always meant to be ours, we just had to go to Siberia to get him. |

In order for your child to go onto church records they must be blessed. this is until they're eight and can be baptised. It's not a saving ordinance but they won't show up on the Primary roles if they aren't blessed. i've seen plenty of older children be blessed. Not adopted children but the children of converts. If the child is big enough to sit up, why not have them sit on a chair with the Priesthood around them. It's a lovely thing to do. We turned the day into a celebration and invited friends and family to come. Lots of non members came to church and then we had a get together at home with lots of food. It was a lovely day.

Just a quick little story about our baby girls blessing day. We finalized on a Friday... had the Temple sealing on Saturday and had her blessed on Sunday. She slept through the sealing which was the most amazing experience right up there with my DH and my own sealing if not even more special.
Well, my DH was also itching from the day she was born to bless her. She was 6 months old for the blessing and it it VERY different blessing a 6 Month old than a 6 week old. There was a deacon holding the microphone for my husband and Ella (dd) happened to get ahold of the cord. She would yank it away from the deacon and he would pull back. Everytime it would smack DH in the chin... over and over and over throughout the whole blessing. DH never missed a beat though and it was such a wonderful experience and a beautiful day.Good Luck! Here is a Pic. of Ella on her blessing day!
