I read the forum all the time, but I don't really post. I never really have anything of worth to say. He he.
![]() My husband and I are currently waiting to be chosen. We applied at the end of February this year, went through all the paperwork and our homestudy...and we were approved on June 9th. So, we've been waiting for exactly 4 months today. We are in Utah. I just want to say thanks to everyone for their great comments. This is such a great place to get support - for people on all sides of adoption. I wish all of you the best!! ![]() |

We are in the process of finishing our hs. It was submitted to court. We are waiting for Child Protection Services to send a report that says we are not child abusers. They are taking their sweet time sending it in. I don't know how long that will take. The rest of the hs is done. As soon as we get the ok from the court we are good to go. We should then be able to start sending our hs anywhere we want to. We do have a sib group we are interested in. I really hope they are still available when the time comes for us to submit our hs.
Our first adoption was from Mexico. An adorable 3 week old baby girl that is now 10 years old. We are now ready to give her some more siblilngs. Most of the people that post are waiting for babies. I feel kind of out of place becuase we aren't doing the baby thing. |

We are in AZ and have been certified with LDSFS since July 02'. Still 'waiting'. We have a 3 year old, we adopted through LDSFS. He talks about 'babies' all the time. So I think our whole family is ready for our 'second little miracle.'

Mina2u,
Don't feel out of place, I know there are other people on this forumn who are waiting for some older children or sib groups. And anyway, I think we are all still in the same boat, just looking for different views off the side. We actually are for newborn to toddler right now, but there is a wide varierty of people in this group, so please do not feel out of place. LBL |

We started the process at the beginning of the year. We are now paper ready and waiting for a referral. We are planning to adopt from Guatemala but not through LDS FS. We have been waiting 2 months for a toddler girl referral. We are first on the list so I keep thinking any day but apparently toddler girls are far and few between in Guatemala right now.
I'd be interested to hear if anyone has adopted internationally through LDS FS especially from Guatemala. Do they even do Guatemala?

Jeannine,
Right now, LDS FS is not doing International but my understanding is that they did do Guatemala. I believe, they have closed international for a while because of the expense. They are trying to find a more affordable way. If I remember correctly, they did Guatemala, Bolivia, China, Vietnam, Kazikstahn, Republic of Gerogia, Azerbiajian, India, Russia, Ukraine, and a couple others that I cannot think of. I Hope the reopen it again soon! Take Care, LBL ![]() |

I keep my stats updated on my signature line, but heres more details.
We picked up the application from LDSFS last Nov., held onto it fretting and pondering until March, recieved all referrals end of April, had 1st home visit where we reived the docs for homestudy end of April, finished my part of the homestudy/questionnaire end of May, bugged hubby daily to work on his and meantime completed online profile for LDSFS site, kept bugging hubby til end of August, purchased insurance to complete income sheet in Sept turned it all in and had individual interviews 2 weeks ago. Worked on paper profile and waited for approval to come until early this week, then called and found out that approval is pending completion of paper profile, then it as well as the internet one, will be activated. Oh, and last weekend, a customer said she knew a girl in LDSFS in Vegas who hadn't chosen aparents yet and she was contacting her to refer us as potential match. Just heard back that the baby is due in NOV. ONE EXACT YEAR AFTER WE WERE INSPIRED TO PICKUP APPLICATION AND 9 MONTHS AFTER WE WERE INSPIRED TO FINALLY SUBMIT IT!! So as I hurry to finish all the final touches to the paper profile, I wait and pray anxiously if this situation is right for us. No answer yet, but I'll let ya'll know as soon as I hear! P. S. I propose we change the name "Homestudy" to "Lifestudy" The actual home visit was the least of it!

I am new to this forum. I have just been lurking around a bit. I have enjoyed all the comments and stories.
We have two bio children (boys 13 & 11), and one adopted child (girl 3 & AA). We are currently awaiting our fourth child. We are hoping to bring home another little girl. We have been working with a facilitator for the past 12 weeks and are very pleased with our exposure so far. LDS FS was not really an option for us since we have three living children, and a special needs situation is not for us right now. There are so many options out there, and it can become a bit overwhelming - - so we are happy to have found a great service. Thanks again for all your notes. I have really enjoyed reading them and knowing that there are lots of couples just like us awaiting the arrival of these wonderful little angels! Angie |

Congratulations mmmorgans96!! Good luck with your goals...they are good ones!
![]() aspenhall - Have you heard anything yet? My husband and I are going through the 7 weeks of adoption classes that our office of LDSFS does. They are such great classes! It's SO NICE to hear other people just like us going through very similar things. We've also been blessed to hear from some birthmothers - that was an awesome class, they had some amazing stories to tell. |

Sorry so late in reply!
Sorry I have been so late in replying to this post... Life has been so crazy at our house. We have been out of town a lot and just had so much stuff going on.
Well DH and I are in Utah and We have been approved through LDSFS since July 2003. From the begining we have felt this almost push to get everything done FAST and we also came to the choice to adopt through circumstanes that got us here very quickly. I have been wondering why till this week!!! We have been chosen to parent a beautiful baby girl that will be born in January! We are so excited we can hardly stand it! We are still in a state of shock but we are so excited. We told most of DH's famliy so far but we are waiting to tell my family till Monday at my Dads B-Day party. What a ROLLERCOASTER RIDE! |
