a twist on our adoption story

at the beginning of this year our baby was born and we finalized his adoption this summer. we took him to the temple with our other children and had a beautiful experience.

heres the twist:
i keep in constant contact with his birth family. they are not LDS - we did not adopt through LDSF, but went with a private adoption. after a year of contact through letters and phone calls, i have introduced the gosple to them. they are visiting with the missionaries and have attended church for a month. they love it and want to be baptized! it has been a beautiful experience. we are hoping to fly across country to attend their wedding and baptism. in fact, my DH, who is a bishop might be able to perform their wedding. how amazing is that?

as they say - they Lord works in mysterious ways.

Definitely interesting. We had a fun experience, too - a year after our son was born we received a letter from his birthfather (also not LDS) that said he was joining the church. He had investigated the gospel because of the way he felt and the way he and the birthmother were treated by us and LDSFS during the adoption process.

Fun stuff, eh?

We were found thru our online LDSFS listing as well, by a non-lds bmom. And ended up doing a private adoption because of my dd's age (not a baby) And she wants so badly to share the gospel with her bfamily...I keep my fingers crossed and pray that we're a good example.
