I have a friend who was just recently kicked out of her house because she went against her mother's religous ideals. I was wanting to know if it was legal for my family to adopt her so that she could continue on her college education.

I don't understand. Why do you need to adopt her in order for her to continue her college education? That makes no sense to me. You could help her our financially, let her live with you - but I don't see how adoption fits in.
?? At any rate, you cannot adopt someone without their parents' consent, or unless you have the parents' rights terminated in court (where you have to prove neglect/abandonment/etc.). And just because they kicked out their child does not mean thye don't love them or want them to be a part of their family, they are just choosing what they will allow in their home at this time.
