white clothes

we are taking our baby to the temple the end of july. the other time we did this i only had 6 (sigh) kids and they were all small. i bought white dresses and shirts and pants for all of them to wear. i remember it was a lot of work. this time around i have 12 kids (gulp). i know they have white stuff to borrow at the temple, but my teenage girls are not going to be happy about that. i can just see them in those huge white flowing gowns with the zippers up the front and the groans and complaints i will hear. they will remember the awful dresses more then the sealing. so, anyone know where i can find white dresses? they've got to be hip and cute and modest of course. i dont have much time to sit at the sewing machine lately either. does anyone know the rules about the dresses? do they all have to be long and long sleeved? that will be impossible - a summer dress with long sleeves. on the other hand the other dresses ive found have skinny little spaghetti straps - not gonna work either. HELP!!!!!!!!

I am so excited for you !!! We are waiting for our baby to be born !!!! I hope this helps.. the Temple should have a variety of nice dress for your girls to chose from. When I worked in the youth center they had the most beautiful dresses for any age.Your girls should be able to find something. Also to answer your question yes the dresses do have to be long sleeved.

Wishing you all the best !

Question

Also - momofboys says the dresses have to be long-sleeved, and she would know better than me, - but when I took my 3 yr old girl, they said her short-sleeved dress was fine - I bought the short-sleeved temple dress at the Church's distribution center. Maybe it's age-related? Call the temple you are going to and ask them. - Maybe the older girls need to, and the babies are okay?

I've deleted a post from this thread that contained URL's to retail sites.

Please remember that URL's to retail sites must be sent via PM!

Thanks!

Red face

The deleted post was mine - I wish I remembered all I wrote... But I did put in some links to some sites I found that have cute white clothes. I'll PM them to you, if I can.

If you live close enough to the temple, you can go in and see what they have. Then you will have a better idea if you want to buy for your older girls. The church's distribution center is a good place to look, too. If you live close enough to one. Or if not, they send them pretty quick. - within a week or so. Their stuff is obviously modest, and some of it is even cute!

Do they have to be white for a sealing? I'm just going by my sister's and my sealing when we were 3 but we were wearing regular clothes, unless they changed us in the temple and changed us back when we were done cause we have pictures of that day and we were just wearing regular clothing.

Long Sleeve Ideas

I just helped dress my nephews for their sealing to my sister & her husband. The workers asked us to change their shirts into long sleeve.

Also, for a simple and quick idea for the teenage girls: I saw a younger temple worker that wore a simple white (long) skirt with a long sleeve white shirt with a round collar. I don't know if that would be stylish enough for teenagers, but you could compromise by letting them get a better looking dress to wear afterwards for pictures!

My dd was 4 when she was sealed to us, and she wore a short puff sleeve dress.
