Latvia

I realize your message is old...but just in case, we adopted from Latvia in January, 2002. Everything was great! We stayed in a really nice hotel in Riga and got an adorable baby boy (had just turned 2). We waited nearly 3 years but it was worth it. we went to that country because they have better orphanages. However, we have heard that things are really held up right now because of some new law they passed and general dislike/distrust of foreign adoptions. http://www.rferl.org Here is an article you may be interested in. Dzintra Jermusa was who our contact was an extremely nice and caring woman. we attribute our son's easy-going, happy personality to her. teika is the orphanage he was at. I think her statistics are a little exaggerated...so the kids can be adopted by foreigners. We were very happy with the way everything went and really liked teh country. A nice bonus is that the people over there are pretty good looking......they said our son's mother was beautiful and that is why he is really good looking. we never mentioned it but they brought it up right away. The important thing to me is his personality which is great...warm, caring, funny, happy. Just a realy good kid. We want to adopt again from there so hopefully things will get better.
