Welcome to the new Kyrgyzstan Adoption Forum!

In recent months, I've seen an increase in posts about this country! We even have a member that just brought her daughter home from Kyrgyzstan, so I thought what better time to create a forum devoted solely to Kyrgyzstan.

Welcome all new members and old alike!

I was wondering if we'd get a forum for Kyrgyzstan. Anyone in the process please post, I'd love to here how it's going!

TCK"s or Third Culture Kids are difined as "[A] person who has spent a significant part of his or her developmental years outside the parents' culture. The third culture kid builds relationships to all of the cultures, while not having full ownership in any. Although elements from each culture are assimilated into the third culture kid's life experience, the sense of belonging is in relationship to others of the same background."

How being a TCK relates to my desire to adopt some day: I grew up an international child, and while the walls between country and race mean less to me than most, I grew up with an understanding of the influence of clashing cultures that is hard to explain to someone who exists in solely one culture. God has given me the gift of experiences to fuel my desire for international adoption and to understand an internationally adopted child's world.

Thanks for the help!

My wife and I are in the decision making process about adoption. We have 2 biological children (5) and (3). The Kyrgyzstan program is the one that grabbed our attention from the start and has us excited. The agencies we have looked at are Adoption Alliance in CO, and Christian World Adoption. To the lady who has just brought her girl home, which agency did you use?

To all who have emailed me

I'm sorry I have not gotten back to everyone, I am going to write up a page with my experience and email it to all who are interested. I think I saved everyone's address but if you are interested email me again at melaniecastelli@bellsouth.net ( Am I allowed to post this here?) If it is removed, just PM me.

An update on Isabella, she turned one on Saturday and is doing so well, she has 4 teeth, is about to walk, sleeps through the night, and is just adorable, smart and healthy!!

Thanks for creating this Forum! We are halfway complete with the adoption of an 8 year old special needs Kyrgyz boy, having just submitted our dossier to our agency, Adoption Alliance, last week. We have adopted twice from Kazakhstan and are extremely excited about this nwe adventure!

Warmly,

Krygyzstan - very interested!

We are extremely interested in learning more about Krygyzstan adoptions. Will you please email us the specifics on your adoption? We are interested in knowing which agency you used, how it worked for you, the time frame from start to finish, how old your child was when you brought him/her home, etc. Any information at all!
Thanks so much,
Jack and Susan
