Accepted referral and become pregnant

Does anyone know the guidelines pertaining to the situation in which a family that has accepted a referral and is waiting to travel becomes pregnant? We just had an unexpected pregnancy and early miscarriage. Also, our travel to pick up our baby has been delayed by the Korean gov't until 2012 due to no more visas this year. Does anyone know if a family who does successfully conceive while waiting for travel would be prevented by SWS from continuing with the adoption of the referred child as long as the age difference would be 19 plus months?

I'm a little confused. If you had a miscarriage, then you're not pregnant. I definitely would NOT advise trying to get pregnant while you wait. Most times that is blatantly against your adoption contract. It's not just the age difference agencies are concerned with, it's the home difference. SWS is very strict, so if you are pregnant, I would greatly advise telling your agency. They will not be happy if they find out any other way. You need to outright ask them, but if you are not pregnant they are going to ask you to prevent a pregnancy while you are waiting for travel, for sure.

I needed to clarify that we have worked with the US agency you are with. They ALL want to maintain good relations with their Korean counterparts. If you get to Korea and they find out then, it looks badly on the US agency and could damage their relationship. It's always definitely better to be upfront. We had to about an issue and while it was scary I was glad we did.

I'm sorry about your miscarriage.

Yes, I believe if the pregnancy was successful, you'd be required to stop the adoption immediately. No matter that you already had a referral, no matter of the age difference.

I'm sorry about your miscarriage. I've been there many times.
