searching for sisters

Hello everybody,

My name is Martijn Koops. I'm 30 years old and living in the Netherlands. I was adopted from Korea when i was 1.5 years old. My Korean name is Cho, Byung Il. I went back to Korea in 2001 and met my birthmother. Until a week before my flight i always asumed to be an orphan. In Korea i heard i've got two older sisters who were adopted to a US couple stationed(must be round 1979) at Guam.
This is the only information i got besides a few pictures. So now i am trying to find my sisters. Unfortunatly i lost their birthdate.

The oldest must be about 32/33 now. Her korean name is Cho, Mi Ae.
The youngest must be about 31/32. Her korean name is Cho, Mi Yun.

If anybody knows them or heard about a family stationed at Guam base at about 1978/1979 please let me know.

Also all tips on how i should go on with my search are very welcome.

You can contact me by mail at byung78@gmail.com or add my on msn byung_il@hotmail.com

Yours sincerely

Martijn Koops

Hi,

You might write to the adoption agency that handled your adoption. Also I believe that there are websites for adoptee birth family searches. I have never used them because my adopted son is still little and so far, he doesn't have any bio siblings. But our agency told us we can send letters of inquiry to them and if the birth family members were interested in them, they would pass them along.
Good luck with your search!

Hello, Martijn. I'm sorry I don't have information about the women you described, but I was struck by your (adoptive) last name. Is Koops a common surname?

I live in the US and know I have Dutch ancestry. In fact my mother's maiden name is Koops. I wonder if we are related (not through biology, of course).

Much luck to you in your search for your biological sisters.

Best,
Lisa

hello,

thx for the replies.

@Max'smom: i have allready done that when is was back in korea. they gave me the information i have so far but they wouldnt give me more because of privacy reasons.

@LJR1974: Koops is a pretty common name here. chances are very small we are related. besides i dont know anyone in my family that moved to the US. you probably done have some relatives here but its probably not me.

take care all

cheers

Could you proceed through the United States Air Force?
I assume that your sisters' adoptive parents were stationed there at the Andersen Air Force Base?

Good luck.
