Question for a friend re: vaccinations 4 kids @ home
I have a question for a friend who is considering adopting from Korea. They already have a child at home. He has autism and his vaccinations are being given differently, so he's not where he "should" be for a child of his age. Anyone else face this predicament? She was told they couldn't apply because of this. Is this a Korea specific requirement?
Thanks for any insight you can give.

they can't adopt b/c of their child's vaccination schedule or b/c of his disability?
not sure about Korea, but our home study wording for Kyrg dealt with that issue. our DD is developmentally delayed with mild MR, the home study states that she has been diagnosed MR and is doing well in school and healthy. it is stated in the home study but not emphasized. I would be interested to see what others with experience in Korea have to say about this. |

A changed vaccination schedule for medical reasons should not bias either an agency or Korea against a family. Just because the family vaccinates on a special schedule for an autistic child, it does not follow that the family will not vaccinate a healthy child in the more traditional manner.
There are families who simply oppose vaccinations. Some have adopted successfully, especially if they don't make a huge issue of the fact during their homestudy. However, American agencies do sometimes have problems with families who do have non-mainstream health care beliefs and practices. Sharon
