Travel Option

Is there still the escort option. The Agency I used for my first adoption says you must now travel to Korea but after reading other posts some people still have that option. is it different between agencys?

That requirement seems to be agency specific. We have the option to escort, and the other agencies I looked into in our state all had the option to escort. (Although, they stated that finding an escort is sometimes difficult and they may give you the option of a refund if you chose to travel instead of waiting for an escort to become available.)

Korea still permits escort. However, travel is strongly recommended by most agencies. The reason is that it really helps parents to develop an appreciation of their children's birth culture, which is important for the development of the child's self esteem.

I would strongly recommend that you travel, if at all possible. However, if you absolutely cannot do so, be aware that you CAN have your child escorted. Using escort may delay your child's homecoming, and it won't save you a lot of money, but very few agencies categorically prohibit it.

Hi,
My understanding is that some US agencies were having too much trouble finding escorts so they no longer provide that option and require parents to pick up themselves.
