My daughter's FIRST birthday!!!
Hi all,
On Thursday we celebrated Andie's first birthday Korean style. One of my husband's students (obviously from Korea), helped us get her dressed in her Korean Hanbok and explained the celebration to us. The "Tol" includes placing items on a table. Whichever ones she grabs are indicative of her future. She took the pencil, which means she will be studious (good news for Max) and she also took an astronaut block. Maybe she'll be the first Korean-American female in space! Carolyn

How cute! My first son picked up three things at the same time. He picked up a rice cake (never go hungry/prosperity), the needle and thread (long life - and yes, it was one of those big plastic needles so he wouldn't hurt himself - LOL!), and a book (scholarly). My second son picked up a pencil (writer) and jujubees (many descendents)...What FUN!!!

My son picked up the coins first, which my friend from Korea assures me means he will be wealthy one day. (I need to start shopping...
)Then he picked up the pencil, and then the thread. So I guess this means our little guy will live a long, prosperous life, filled with study. Congratulations to you! Amy
