Gift Ideas!!!!!

A friend of ours is leaving in a week on business to Korea and will most likely be able to bring our son home with her later in the month. I want to send her with some gifts for the foster mother or family and the staff at Eastern. Does anybody have any specific ideas?

When we traveled in early Feb we brought Fannie May Chocolate Hearts, bath and body works lotions, chicago themed postcards and pens. Really the emphasis is on the token of a gift not it being a grand gesture. Because we traveled, we brought the foster mother a few outfits for future children she would care for and a necklace. For Dr. Kim we brought a donation for the agency in a hand made Chicago themed card with a brief note of thanks for the work he and his agency has done.

Do you mind me asking how your friend will be able to escort your son?

Amy

We sent perfume and lotion for foster mom, chocolates for foster dad, and gave our escort a bracelet. We also sent some baby clothes to the foster mother, and some pictures of us and the beautiful Maine coast. I've also heard scarves and cosmetics suggested as foster-mother gifts. To echo what Amymom said above, in Korean culture, gifts are meant to be tokens of appreciation, small and humble. (It's hard to keep them small, though, when you want to express your appreciation for the love they've given your little one!)
Another thing to consider is to continue to send pictures and letters to them through your agency once the baby comes home. I know it comforts our son's foster mom to know how much we love him!
I'm excited for you!
Amy

Lotions are good for sensitive skin. They like the name brand ones as they are easier on their skin. Scarfs are good. They like chocolates as well. And Honey I have been told not sure about. One thing I have been told ALOT is to make sure everything is made in the USA that you give. I have also been told that the foster moms like something that they will remember your little one by. We are going to make a coffee cup or a magnet with our littles ones pictures as she has used photoshop and have sent us tons of beautiful pictures and a home video.

She is there at the appropriate time and we requested that she bring him back. The agency agreed, probably based upon the fact that she has adopted four children from Korea through the same agency so they thoroughly know her background.
