Hello,
I am calling out all parents that recently adopted a baby from Korea are in the process... I am wondering how old the babies are at referral and when they come home please..Thanks in advance..

Our son was 3 months old at referral and came home at 5 months last year. However, the ages are changing right now becauseo of government efforts to encourage domestic adoption. Starting Jan. 1, children cannot be referred until they have been offerred for domestic adoption for 5 months (I think it's 5, maybe its 4). Since the change hasn't happened yet, there is still some uncertainty about how many months older most kids will be at referral.

Our daughter was three months old at referral and came home at 6 1/2 months (would've been even faster if it weren't for a SLOW I-600 from the Atlanta office).

Our son was 4 months at the time of referral and 10 1/2 months at time of arrival.

Our daughter was 2 months at time of referral and 8 months at time of arrival.

Ditto what Max's mom said and the reply on your other thread... Rules have changed so now no referrals until child is at least 5 mo. old. Time to travel after that varies by agency, getting caught up in quotas, etc. Generally travel is 2-5 months after referral, though I've seen exceptional situations where it can take 9+ mo until travel.

FWIW: son referred at 2.5 mo and home at 7 mo. daughter referred at 2 mo and home just shy of 5 mo.

Our son was 2 months at referral and came home at 6 months (Sept 04). Our daughter was 5 weeks at referral can came home at 4 months (Aug 06).

We got very, very lucky. Our son was 6 weeks old at referral, and we traveled to bring him home at 3.5 months. We got our referral April 10, 2006 and our travel call June 7 or 8. We left for Korea Saturday the 10th and came home forever June 15.

Our son was 6 weeks at referral and 6-1/2 months when home.

BTW - our agency received two referrals on Feb 6. I'm thinking that these were babies born in December possibly. We went to Korea to pick up our son and the agnecy nursery was full. We're hoping that the children don't get the short end of the stick with the new referral rules for 2007.

CJ was just shy of 4 mos at referral in Feb 2005, and 8.5 mos when she came home, June 2005.

My son was 6 weeks old at referral and he was 4 1/2 months old on Gotcha Day. We are truly blessed to have him in our lives! With the new changes, I know that the children will be at least 5 months old or older at referral.
