HUGE {{{{{HUGS}}}} to all the waiters out there. I remember how hard Mother's Day was and how I just wanted the day to pass so that I wouldn't have to dwell on what I didn't have and what I so desperately wanted. If you are waiting to start the process, waiting for the HS to start, waiting for a referral, waiting for legals, waiting for a travel call, etc., know that we are here for you and have been where you are right now. It's not easy, but I PROMISE that it does get better. Cut yourself some slack and pamper yourself today.

I second Cathy's sentiment. Once your baby is home, every day is Mother's Day! So hang in there.

Thanks...I'm having a tough day - DH told me I'm not a mommy yet because Alex isn't home. That hurt.


I'm still organizing and buying. And, of course, waiting for the phone to ring with the travel call!

Oh, Jen, I'm sooooo sorry....I think a lot of men and even some women have a totally different take on this than we do. For some people, they need to see the baby before they believe that it's going to be for real. I'm not sure what your circumstances were that brought you to adoption, but maybe your husband was guarding that place inside of him to avoid getting hurt. He most likely will be a terrific father, but needs the reassurance that it WILL HAPPEN. Many {{{{HUGS}}}} to you.

I am so sorry you were hurt. Men really don't understand. Even with our bio children my DH didn't really feel attached to them until they were born. He is the same way with the adoption. He can't really see anything happening because he can't "SEE" it. But as soon as we get going for real and he sees that precious child, I think he will be sunk!

The wait is hard- but I actually had a good Mother's Day for the first time in my life because I know my little girl is coming home to me some day.

Thank you so much for the encouragement. This mother's day was so much easier for me knowing that we will a child soon. A coworker wished me happy mother's day and I realized 'wow-I actually am a mom'! It was such a great feeling. Now we just need to get the referral and make it official!
