Referral Time for CHSFS & Holt

I saw a recent post regarding timeframes for referrals from HSTK for Eastern and SWS, but would like to know current timeframes for CHSFS & Holt. We would not be specifying a gender. Anyone out there who can answer? We are in Iowa and could work with either agency. Thanks!

We're not adopting through Holt but based on the information on their adoption forums, their timeline is similar to Eastern - a little under a year for a boy, over a year for a girl.

CHSFS says 3-5 mos for a boy, 18+ for a girl. This was the info we got from them 3 weeks ago.

It really varies. What medical conditions, if any, are you open to? If you are open to some, that could drastically change your wait time, or not. Issues include preemie, cleft palate, minor ASD, jaundice, etc.

Assuming you don't check anything, the agency/SW would be the best source for current time frames...though those often change during the process. When we started for #2 (girl), the wait for referral was 9 mo and 5 mo for travel. When all was said/done, we waited 12 mo for referral and 2.5 mo for travel. I believe currently boy/either referrals are around 8 mo and about 3 mo for travel.

Note that other agencies time frames change, too. One "fast" agency last year noted for referrals w/in a couple weeks and travel w/in about 2 mo ran into MAJOR slowdowns suddenly and now a few mo to referral and 6-9+ mo for travel.

To answer your question lynnor, I would be open to minor medical conditions.

I just find it confusing that CHSFS appears to have such a short time for referrals of boys compared to the other agencies. Does that mean the travel time is likely longer? I'm okay with the wait in order to go with "right" agency for us, but it seems strange that the differences would be so large.
