the name game

Hi All,

Just an update where we are at, this past week, we received our acceptance paperwork and am hoping by late this week, we will be sending it back to the agency all properly filled out.

Now for the fun part, we have narrowed our son's name down to two...Andrew or Samuel. I like Sam, DH likes Andrew. We could both go either way and name him either. We have middle names picked out so we can't use them both and we've looked in the name books to find any other name that we both liked with no luck. So, here we sit. I thought I'd post it on the board to see other's opinions. Just for the fun of it, because the paperwork is not fun, and I need a diversion.

I vote for Samuel. While I like both names, over time, they will get shortened to a nick name, & I like Sam better than Andy. That's how I choose

No opinion. Have you looked through the names on ssa.gov? Go to the left side and click onto the link about the most popular names in 2004. Then click on top baby names. You can go back 125 years and they will tell you the number and percent of each name in the top 1,000. Then again, if you don't want anymore options DO NOT GO TO THIS SIGHT! I went to it all the time when we were waiting for our daughter's referral!

Since you asked for opinions, here's mine. I vote for Andrew. I just like that name better than Samuel.

I love the name Andrew. I also like it's shortened version of Andy.

I love the name Samuel. And Sam is such a great nickname. It is also less common than Andrew. I have a nephew named Andrew that we have not used a nickname. I'm not a fan of Andy, but I do like Drew. You'e got two good choices!

I have good associations with "Sam" so I'll say "SAM!"

Our son that came home in February is named Andrew...It's a family name and I LOVE IT!!!! Couldn't go wrong with either one, though.

My son's middle name is Andrew - so I'll have to vote for that!

I love the name Samuel...we had to rule it out for our son because it is sort of a family tradition to name our dogs Sammy (although we didn't name either of our dogs this).

Both are great names.

Well, they are both good names with good nicknames.

I always like to look at the origins of names, and Andrew means "manly, courageous" and Samuel means "God hears." Either one would be great for your little man!

My dh and I had Andrew on our list of boys names as well. We just didn't think our little man looked like a Andrew, Andy or Drew so we decided against it ourselves. I still like the name though so my vote is for Andrew.
