My little one has Mongolian Spots all over her buttocks and back as well. She is from Russia and is of Russian/Eskimo decent.

When we picked her up at the orphanage, we quickly changed her clothes and did not even see her back. That night we put her in the tub for the first time and saw them and freaked out! I had never heard of these. In the orphanage in Russia, they put "green stuff" on mosquito bites etc [yes, green stuff is the actual term. LOL]. so I wondered if it was residue from the ointment. When I couldn't scrub it off [yes, I tried] I was so worried it was bruises. She didn't seem to be sensitive in the area so I just wasn't sure. She had to see the Embassy doctor before we could bring her home though and I didn't mention it to him because I was so worried they would think we hit her.

Thankfully when my social worker came to visit our first week home, I told her about them and showed them to her and she knew exactly what they were.

I tried to get my doctor to put this in her file. I hope she did. I really wanted pictures put in there, but she played it off.

My daughter is 2 and they have not gotten any lighter. They don't bother me at all, but my MIL has to check them out every time she sees her. arghhh
