What are your kids up to?

It was mentioned on another thread that those in waiting like to hear updates on our children who are home, so I thought I'd start a new thread for that. What are your kids up to?

Harrison has recently started running (gah!) and he loves to play 'chase'...he'll chase you or you can chase him...even our dogs play. He lets out big belly laughs and squeals of delight as he runs away, and melts to the floor in giggles when you "catch" him. He also recently learned how to shake his head "no" and surprises us when he does it very appropriately. As in "do you want to go to bed?", to which his response is vigorous head shaking.

He is desparate for Spring to arrive as he is itching to get outside and run around...he pounds his little fists on our sliding glass door and yells "ow, ow!" (for 'out'). He sleeps like a log and has been taking really long naps for the past few weeks...except for today. He has decided today that naps are not for him.

He will be one year old on Monday!!!!! The time is flying by...

Ryan's been saying new words every day. His favorite one right now is "em-ain" for airplane. Over this past weekend, I had just gotten home from ordering his next pair of shoes and had to run him out of the garage so that he could see the airplanes going over our house. On Sunday, we were in his sister's room cleaning up in there and he kept saying "em-ain em-ain" so I said shh so that I could listen. I had to tell him that there was no airplane. I've been telling him story of how Mommy, Daddy, Nana, Papa, Gaga (my mother in law), Grandpa Dave (my father in law), and Uncle Kevin came to the airport to get him and that he came to us on an airplane. He has a Huggy Buggy Airplane that I purchased for him and he's been carrying it around at times.

My son doesn't walk...he runs and has been for awhile (he's 20 months old). We talk about his baby sister coming. We had some successes yesterday with him going 3 separate times on the potty. Ooh we called Daddy at work and Nana at home about this one. Today he's not interested in it in the least.

Outside of that, we're trying to learn the music for our Kindermusik class that is subject is dealing with "Away We Go".

He's still afraid of his Dancing E-L-M-O that he got for his birthday and the Tickle Me Cookie Monster but we say "hi" to them all the time!!

We have had some set backs with the fact that our dog Maggie had to go into the vet last week for a teeth cleaning and ended up spending the night there. When Ryan woke up Daddy and his Pup-Pup were gone (normally they are the first two in his room when he wake up). When Daddy came home there was no Pup-Pup. We colored a card for Maggie but it wasn't the same. Now everyday we've been hearing "day-ooh" (his word right now for doctor) along with Pup-Pup. We have been reassuring him about it but it's affecting him going to bed ever since...I think he's afraid to fall asleep because if he does his Pup-Pup won't be home. Bedtime was really a fight afterwards but has calmed down somewhat now.

That's about it for us right now.

Gotta go to get some stuff done!

Jen

Cady is ... finally entertaining herself for a few minutes!!!

Although she has been insisting on feeding herself, all by herself, the last few weeks, she has just started to insist on walking to the car by herself. My little girl is growing up. She uses "uh-oh" very well, & I think full sentences are not too far away. She is addicted to Baby Einstein dvd's, (throws the remote at you, screams & points to the TV when she wants it on) and likes to talk on her phones. Yes, that was plural, I fear future phone bills. She'll walk around with the phone held between her shoulder & ear, & talk away. Sometimes, a phone at each ear. Right now she is carrying an empty mustard bottle around in a wicker basket, that until a few minutes ago, had magazines in it.

She's my little buddy. She makes me laugh & smile everyday.

I had not viisted the sight in a while and was surprised to see this thread, GREAT IDEA! Tegan Lim has been home with us for almost a year now (2/16/05), and we just can't imagine life without this wonderful firecracker of energy. I am amazed daily at how much he learns and does. He has a 2nd birthday coming up as well and is talking lots, learning swim, loves the wiggles and on the constant go. We were lucky to have our whole adoption process take just 13 months from start to finish, and since we had such a wonderful expericence we are seriously considering a little sister or brother within the next 2 years.

Sara, he's so handsome! We had a great time at his party! CJ was asleep by the end of the driveway she crashed hard for an hour.

I don't have many new pics, I've been useing regular film again, because of the delay issues with the digital. I'm tired of blurry, back of the head shots! I love the sot of her foot prints next to mine. Then there is the best birthday shot I have, then her with her cousins Shayne, Sam & Allie.

Amy,
Harrison arrived with a hanbok...it was sent with him by his foster family. I think (let me know it I'm wrong, Millie) that Cady also arrived with hers. It is my understanding that the babies often arrive with a hanbok, but if not you can order them online from a woman who has them made by a seamstress in Korea.

Amy,

Our son, Ryan, arrived with a hanbok as well. He came to us at 10 1/2 months and we were surprised to see the hanbok (but grateful as well). We didn't expect a hanbok to be in his diaper bag. Prior to his arrival, I had done some research online to find one just in case so if you need to find a hanbok, don't hesitate to ask.

We are adopting again and we are not expecting to see another hanbok in the diaper bag for our daughter even though she is being taken care of by the same exact foster family that her big brother was in.

Gotta go since it's Wiggle Time here in my household!!

Thanks one and all! If we don't see one in his diaper bag, I'll ask about where to order one.

Don't know where you are from, but my husband met a Korean exchange stufent at our college, and his mom is a semstress in Korea and makes hanboks. We found this out after buying one from my nieces Korean Camp, but for the next one we will ask our friend. He also mention that if we wanted anything translated, he would help us out and was very happy about our adoption. YOu would be surprised what resources are available at your local universities.
Tegan has been with us for 1 year today, and we love every minute. I have looked at your pictures, and your children are ADORABLE!! It makes me want to get started on the paperwork for Tegan's little sibling.

FYI: Just found out today to make sure after final adoption date to change your childs name on their soc sec. card, or your return will be rejected and you will have to amend to their Korean name.
