Smile Introduction - New to Korea Adoption Program

Hi everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Suzanne Mush and my husband, Mike, and I are just beginning our Korean adoption process. We live in Fort Smith, Ark. We just sent in our intial app. to our agency so we are very early on. I hope you all won't mind me asking millions of questions as we go through the process. I know most of you have all been there and hopefully won't get too sick of me!
I look forward to getting to know you all.

Welcome aboard!

What kind of timeline has your agency given you? This time last year, I was about where you are, and our daughter came home 6/30!

This board really is a great support network, I know it's how I maintained some sanity last spring! Since then I haven't slept more than 4 hours straight, and all sanity has since dissapeared But the hugs & ma-ma-ma-ma-mas make it all worth while!

Hi Millie! Thanks for welcoming me!

Our agency quotes 17-22 months from start to finish but I'm hoping those are just worst case senarios! I hope ours goes as fast as yours. That would be great! BTW, Cady is adorable. Was she from Eastern? That is the one our agency uses.

How is it going with Cady? Have you completely adjusted? Do you already have children of your own?

Take care,
Suzanne

Hi Suzanne,

Yes, Cady is our first, & she did come through Eastern. We went through several years of infertility, all to find out that our daughter was being born in Korea. She really did adjust very quickly, she had bonded with me within hours of leaving the airport. She fits right in with her cousins, & is spoiled by her grandparents! Except for not sleeping through the night, things are great!

As far as things through Eastern, it was very obvious that her foster family really loved her. We sent over a disposeable camera, & they sent back the developed pics, as well as other baby photos in a Hello Kitty photo album. She was very healthy & had no problems bonding with me or dh. Although, Daddy is mostly for play .

I know, the wait is killer, but you will get through it!

Hi Suzanne! Welcome to the group! We were just in Fort Smith about three weeks ago having our fingerprints done for the USCIS! My husband (also named Mike!) and I live near Magnolia, AR. Since there are only two agencies to use in Arkansas for Korea, I suppose we have a 50/50 chance of using the same one. I just realized that Michelle and I are with the same agency. If you're on our agency forum, please say hello! Congratulations on getting started. We are officially waiting for the referral of a girl (our angelic Olivia!) so if you have questions leading up to that point, please ask! I'm in the miserable waiting stage, but it will all be worthwhile once my baby girl is in my arms!
