Smile Hi -- Awaiting referral

Hi, all

My DH and I are from the Boston area and awaiting a referral for a boy. We were told by our agency, Wide Horizons that we were highly likely to have one by the end of March. We are very excited. We have one biological daughter who just turned 5 and very much wants a sibling. Is any one in this forum from around Boston. I would love to know if there are playgroups for families adopting from Korea.

Hi! My huband and I are also waiting for a referral from Wide Horizons. Our list date is 1/12. We're going to the waiting parents' meeting Wed. Maybe I'll see you.

Hi I'm SHelley and we returned from Korea with out daughter in Aug. 2003. We too used WHFC. I don't know if your aware of it or not, but there is a yahoo group for families that have adopted from Korea using WHFC. I can't remember the web address, but if you run a search on yahoo groups, and type in korea it should come up. WE try to get together every month or so. It is a wonderful group. You should check it out. Shelley

Hello,
Well...we are expecting to pick up a baby boy in May/June in N.Y. We will be getting our papers (i forget what it is called...where's my wife?) by the end of this month. Anyway..we live near the Vermont/ N.H. border and have 3 little girls. 9, 7, and 3. Oh...it's a REFFERAL...thats what i ment to say earlier! I suppose we are too far away for a playgroup..but i thought you would know that we could be possibilities for a get together. Also using wide horizons.

Hi-
My dh and I are with WHFC in MA as well. We are currently in the Ukraine program, but have decided to double apply also for Korea. I would be very happy to participate in a playgroup if MetroWest Boston folks are interested? I think, due to so many changes in Ukraine, that an adoption in Korea would be coming sooner.
Good luck to all of us WHFC folks!! Anyone had a referral of a daughter lately? How long from app to referral, and then to travel/escort?
Thanks,
Lisa H

Lets see,
We got an application entrance date of Nov.20 and then we got our referral the 3rd week of Feb. We are getting a boy...and i do believe that in the Korea program that you will be waiting on average a month more...I presume that that means you will be waiting a month longer for referral. You can guage it by listening to the Korea (whfc) hotline recording...and then call them during their working hours to see where (what # )you are on the list.

My wife is interested in talking to someone who is in waiting for their Korean infant to arrive. Please e-mail me and tell alittle about yourself and your number (i only have email at work) or i can send you our #..whatever. Someone in our family just had a little boy...and we were over visiting for a while happy for them..and on the way home we were so much bothered by it...waiting and wondering about our own little one so far away.

waiting for referral also

hi,

My husband and I are also waiting on a referral. Our dossier was sent on February 13th. I believe our list date was around February 20th, maybe 5 weeks ago. We were told the average wait was 12 weeks...so we're almost halfway there.

I find that this has been the toughest part of this adoption so far. I imagine that once we accept a referral...the wait for our child to come to America will be far worse!!!
