Question Agencies in Arizona...anyone use Dillon?

Hi,

My husband and I are just starting the adoption process, and have narrowed our interests to Korea or China. The only agency that is approved by Korea for adoption of healthy children in Arizona is Dillon. Does anyone have any experience with them?

Thanks!

Actually I did want to post that it is true for a healthy infant. However, "waiting" children (low birth weight, missing a finger, birthmark, eczema, etc) such as those seen on www.rainbowkids.com are available to be adopted into all states. Holt, CHSM, etc can place in any state if the child is "waiting" It might be worth your time to look at the website. That is where we first saw our precious Kullen.

just beginning...

Hi, Geanne,

No, we haven't attended any meetings yet. The next meeting is in early January, according to an email Marsha sent me. However, since we live in Tucson and the meeting is in Phoenix, she offered to meet with us at another time. We're waiting until we are more certain about pursuing this until we call her. Are you going through this right now?

Kerrie

The more I read and find out about countries the more convinced I am that S Korea is where we want to adopt from. I will probably go though Dillan as it's the only place I've found in Az. However I did find Children's Hope International has an office in Az, does that mean they can do Korea adoptions as well?

No..they can place older korean children or special needs. they actually

specialize in China. Marianne Adams is who you want to talk to. She herself has adopted from China and she is an amazing source of info. Good Luck.

Adopting from China would be awesome as well, but alas I will only be 25 this year, so that's out for at least 5 more years.

We've used Dillon Southwest for all 4 of our adoptions and can't say enough wonderful things about them! Marsha was our caseworker for all 4. Our first two were healthy infant referrals. Our third child was a waiting child (home at 23 months) with CHSM and Dillon did our homestudy. Our fourth child was also a waiting child (home at 5 and a half years) with AIAA and Dillon again did our homestudy. We just love them!

For the person that worked with DSW in the past and is interested in a child over age 1, there are many waiting children with other out of state agencies, such as AAC, Dillon Int., CHSM, AIAA, and others, and you can still use Dillon as your homestudy agency if you would like.

Hope that helps. I'd be happy to talk with anyone further if you need more information.
