Ok we are about ready to start officially! Just waiting for the bank approval. I think we are going with Family Adoption Consultants. I talked to them several times and they seem great. I did call Bethany today and was very surprised that they had about a 6 month wait for referrals after the home study. FAC said they had a very short wait after the home study. Why is this?

There are 4 agencies in Korea that all adoption agencies around the world must go through for Korean adoption: Eastern, SWS, Holt, and Korean Social Services. Bethany uses Holt. FAC goes through Korean Social Services (KSS). FAC is currently the ONLY agency around the world that uses KSS so every baby that comes to KSS goes to FAC of Michigan or FAC of Ohio. KSS used to work with some agencies in Europe but has stopped working with them (at least for now). If KSS starts working with other agencies again, the wait will go up for FAC parents as well.

We are using FAC of Michigan as well! We hope to have our formal application turned in by Thanksgiving and hope to have a baby home next summer sometime (or even spring?). We certainly hope to get our referral before KSS starts working with other agencies again. Let me know if I can answer any further questions for you! We just submitted our preliminary application on 10/9/03.

We too used FAC in Michigan and they are great. Our first adoption (two siblings) came home in 4 months from start to finish. Our third child should be home by Thanksgiving - a baby boy named Austin. After our homestudy was completed, we received a referral in 1-1/2 months.
