Question All the information I have....please help if you can.

I posted yesterday about how I may have really been born in Kentucky although I have a NY birth certificate and my parents keep saying i was born in NY. I'm going to put down all the information I have and please let me know if anyone knows anything or has any advice for me.

Ok so my parents have been telling me I was born in NY. I have a NY birth certificate. I did some research and found out that in NYC you can go to the library and look into the birth index for the year you were born. I was told that when people are adopted they have 2 birth certificates, but the last 5 digits of the 2 are the same. So if you go to the library and you find another entry with the same birth date and last 5 digits of the certificate, that is your original birth certificate. However, when you look in the book, its not your actual bc. It is a list of information from the certificate - the childs first and last name, date of birth, mothers maiden name and the last 6 digits of your BC number. So it doesn't give you all the information you need to help find your birthmother.
So i went and found a BC with the same birth date and the same last 5 digits of the BC number. It said my mothers maiden name was Dunn.
I also was told that if you were born in Booth Memorial Hospital you can get your birth records from the salvation army. I contacted them and they say they have no records for me or for anyone around the date of my birth.

Now I am being told that I may have been born in Kentucky. Again I ask....is this possible?? Could all of this have been a big conver up by my parents?? I am reading a lot about falsified birth certificates. If all of this is true, is there ever a hope of finding my birth parents??

For anyone who can help or even just give some advice it is greatly appreciated!!!!

THANK YOU AGAIN!!!!!
