Movie Recommendation

Hi all ~ popping in from the China board and wanted to recommend a CD that hubby and I are in the middle of watching. It's not really related to adoption but shows Kazakhstan. The show is called "Long Way Round" with Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman and it's about the two of them riding across the world in 115 days. They spend quite a bit of time in Kazakhstan and you get to see the landscape and people. I thought for those of you that have adopted and/or going to travel there, you might find it interesting to watch.

And for any of those interested in motorcycles ~ the show is pretty good! I've only watched disc one so far!

Yes, a great movie I think Kazakhstan adoptive parents must keep that DVD in regular rotation!

Thanks for sharing. Although I am not a Kaz adoptive parent, I do read the Kaz boards regularly and keep up on Kaz and world news. I will try to get the video.

I just read about this on a blog somewhere, trying to remember where but it escapes me.

Thanks for thinking of us, I'll have to check it out sometime.

Thank You for the recommendation.

We just finished watching "Long Way Round". It was great!! I was glad to find it at our library. I have passed the recommendation on others. We would have enjoyed it even if we had not been to Kaz. What an amazing adventure they took.

It took us a few nights to watch all 7 episodes, we were sad when it was done...we just wanted more We will now try to find their last trip in 2007, "Long Way Down".

Great Series

We watched this series now, all the episodes, and the kids and I really ennjoyed it. I admit, we fast forwarded thru a lot of the first episode where they were just talking about the trip, but from Kazakhstan thru Russia and on, we were hooked.

I did some casual research later and discovered Ewan McGregor and his wife adopted a little girl from Mongolia about a year after he got back, which was wonderful. You can tell on the DVD when he visits the orphanage there that he is very moved.

I've always said, anyone who visits an orphanage cannot help but be affected, and the older children really break your heart because you know there is very little chance they will ever get adopted. [Mine were adopted at 13 and 10.]

Thanks for the recommendation!
