Unhappy Need some encouragement . . .

We've had our dossier in for well over a year now. We just had to redo all of our fingerprints because they expired - the the I-600 (BCIS), the FBI, as well as the local check. We were told that we might travel as soon as last summer . . . then October . . . then Christmas . . . then Spring . . . NO HINT of anything. Our agency tells us that we are always "next in line." Let me tell you, either that "line" isn't moving, or there is more to this story. I hear of people traveling. I hear of adoptions happening. My question . . . is this typical??? I'm getting BEYOND frustrated. I get no feedback nor encouragement from the agency . . . they only contact me if I contact them first. All I hear is just more "you need to this . . " statements. I'd hate to say anything because I don't want to anger them . . . I'm even paranoid they are reading this and will make that 'line' longer . . . I know that they wouldn't do that, but I'm so tired of waiting. I'm just frustrated. Perhaps I'm overreacting. Any advice? Anything you can offer would be great . . .I need it.

I'm so sorry for your wait! It must be unbearable! Don't give up hope yet, I've heard of it taking almost 2 years for some people to adopt from Kaz because of babies not available and delays. What type of child are you looking for? That might be something to do with the wait.
I am having a hard time waiting and we have had our dossier in 5 months. Our agency had told us we had the final approval and would be going in June, now they say they got our name mixed up with someone else and we don't have our approval yet so they don't know when we will be going. It is so hard to be possitive when you get a big letdown like that!
Just don't give up hope! It will happen!

Change

I suggest you change agencies. They are not doing their job. There are plenty of kids available in Kazakhstan. My advice is BUG them constantly if you don't want to just quit them altogether.

Good luck! The sqeaky wheel gets the grease!

Thank you

Thank you for the replies. We are requesting a young boy, so maybe that is why. We've spent so much money already . . . has anyone changed agencies?? What does it entail??

Do you know where your paperwork is? Is it in country, or stuck at the embassy? If it is in country, you need to find out what region, and then find a good agency that works in that region that would be willing to take it over. It can be done. If it has not reached Kaz yet, I would think just about any agency would be able to take it. Willing is another matter, because it is a hassle for them to try and get the paperwork and any money that you have paid moved over.

I have seen it done with my friend going to Uralsk, so it is possible.

Since you are requesting a boy and not a girl I would not thing this is an issue if you are open to Asian also. The next question would be how many regions does that agency work in? Maybe they are only in 1 region and so that makes it very slow. (Just a thought.) But no matter what your agency should stay in contact with you. Maybe you could ask to talk with the references again and see if any experienced such a delay.
We adopted in in 2003 - 2004. Dossier submitted in July 2003 and we traveld in February 2004. We wanted an infant girl, race was open. I have heard if you request an infant girl and expecially if you are not open to race then it takes longer. (I don't think a lot of agencies let people say they want a certain race now.) So we were told our wait would be longer than someone wanting a boy but less than some one wanting a caucasion girl. Either way we were done start to finish in a year from signing with our agency.
Our agency was great, so if you decide to switch and want some suggestions let me know. I loved mine and I have another one I always here good things about I would pass along.

Found out some info . . .

Thank you all for your advice! I asked my agency where my dossier was, and apparently it is in the Pavlodar region. The US dept. of State website regarding Kazakstan adoptions states that loi's from that region can be "postponed indefinitely." My agency stated that three weeks ago, Kazakhstan in no longer allowing couples to move regions once the MOE has assigned one. Also, the agency has another couple waiting to travel there, and they say that we can't go until they come back because it isn't allowed?? I'm not sure I understand. Apparently, once we get an LOI, the region isn't bad . . .

. . . I think I'll take the crib down for now :-(

DO NOT take their word about moving regions. It could be they have no other contacts in differnet cities.

All your docs will expire, stay on top of it and push them/

This will too pass and you will feel closer to your child.
