I-600A or I-824???
Hi All,
Not sure if anyone has this answer. We have our I-171 approval for China. Do we file a separate I-600A for a new I-171 for KZ? OR do we file a I-824 "Action on an Approved Application"? I heard on another board that if we filed the I-824 CIS would send a letter to China to tell them we switched. Also, Looking for the answer to question 16 on the I-600A: "Where do you wish to file your orphan petition?" "The USICS office located at?" "The American Embassy or Consulate at?" Help with either would be most appreciated ![]()

You may want to call or email CIS to clarify what to do if you want your approval to stay in China while you apply to Kaz. My understanding from speaking to someone in the Philadelphia office is that they would notify the Embassy/Consulate where the 1st I-171 form was sent, that you are no longer pursuing adoption in that country and they would notify the Embassy/Consulate in the new country (is this case Kaz) of your approval.
You want them to notify the Embassy/Consulate in Almaty. Good luck. |

We switched from Russia and we had to file an I-824. But I would email them first. They respond rather quickly.
