why the difference?

Hi,

As I've said befoe we are changing from Russia to Kaz. It seems that there are very differing wait times in Kaz, that was definitely the case in Russia. In Russia a lot depended on your agency, regions, age of child.

What are the different reasons for the varying wait times here. We were told it would be 3 to 4 months from the time we turned in our dossier till we traveled. How many of you are/have actually had that time frame work out?

For those of you who are more than a year in the process, just wondering why. Thanks for the info.

2-4 months from turning is dossier is about right for travel.

We and along with other families that have been trying Kaz for a while got held up in Oct when Kaz changed their dossier requirements, then the DC Embassy held me and a friend up alomst 2.5 months before we had our dossier sent To NYconsulate, That took 60 days for them to send dossier out to Kaz.

NoW I have had my LOI 6 weeks ( very unusal but the region is checking post placement repeorts) and should travl soon. My dossier was in Kaz about 5-6 weeks before I got LOI.

I personally feel it is more stable on timeframe than Russia.

We're in our 6 month and are not sure when we'll be traveling. Our dossier went to translation in Feb, Consulate in Apr and back to Kaz and the MFA in June. Every adoption is different so take that into consideration and be patient.

Our dossier was in about 5 months before we travelled.

It does depend on your agency on some of the relationships they have with the different offices both in America and abroad.....and which regions your agency works in.

Hi Lovestruck,

I could be wrong, but my impression is that the delay is that in Kaz (vs Russia), your paperwork is processed before you travel at all. So, what is the delay b/t trips one and two in Russia (when your dossier is processed), occurs before trip one in Kaz..........

Thats at least what it appeared to be to me by what we have learned about both processes!!! And, others are correct, that timeframe is dependant on region, request of child specifics, etc, and agency relationship; as well as the processing time...........ave 6-8 weeks at the embassy/consulate, 4-6 weeks at MFA, 1-2 weeks at the MOE to get LOI! Then, if your agency has a child in mind for you, you travel and do your incountry time and come home with a bigger family!!!

Hope that helps!! A little off topic........but, info is always good!!

And people I know that took awhile before travel were waiting for a young infant girl, that was healthy and caucasian.......tough in some regions and for some agencies from what we can tell!!!

Cheers!!
