converter

I am no expert, but I've been to Russia 4 times now, and dealt with this issue. I don't know if Kaz electricity is more like Russia or more like Asia.

The Russian outlets use much higher voltage, so you need a Step Down Converter, if that's true in Kaz. Then you need to find out what sort of plugs they use in Kazakhstan. I suggest you Google "voltage Kazakhstan" and "electric adaptor Kazakhstan" and see what pops up. I ordered my step down converter online and it worked fine.

Just using a plug adaptor alone won't work, you must not let the higher voltage fry your electronics.

Dee is correct about the higher voltage. I had a plug adaptor and it still blew out my hair dryer that was set for this type of power the first time I turned it on. So do research this. I know a lot of people take laptops so I'm sure it can all be done, just research.
We were lucky our apartment in Karaganda has a computer in it. (I don't know how we could have survived without it.) In Altmaty we did not have a computer and so we just used the internet cafe.

I thought Kaz was on 220v, which is why the hairdryer would have trouble without a converter (ours is a flat 125v, so would need a converter and adapter to fit the different voltage and outlet shape there). Our laptop is 100-240v and I guess I didn't think that anything other than an outlet adapter was needed for a laptop (since the voltages overlap).

Please correct me if I am wrong.............

Most laptops do not need a converter, just an adapter. You will need a converter and adapter for other appliances, such as a hair dryer. (You plug your hairdryer into the adapter then the adapter into the converter then into the wall outlet) I think the outlet adapter you need is Type C. I bought the packs at Radio Shack with several types, but I'm pretty sure Type C is the one that works in Kaz.
