My wife and I are considering Kaz as a potential option in our search for a country and agency for international adoption (4-6 yr old). One of our considerations is the amount of time/#trips required for adoption in any of the countries we are considering. From our research it appeared that an adoption from Kaz would require at minimum 5 weeks with as much as 7 weeks. However, we recently had one agency informally state that a Kaz adoption with their agency would only require a couple of weeks travel. Can others provide feedback on their experiences and knowledge?

Is it possible that they are quoting a 2-3 week time that covers bonding and court, and they assume that you would come home at that point and possibly use an escort to bring the child home?


Otherwise, from what we have been told, all of the regions are not waiving that 2 week wait after court anymore, but that could be another way they are quoting a faster time (if there IS still a region that waives this!!), that would be great!!

Most of the agencies are pretty consistently presenting a 4-6 week timeline (although one agency has posted an even longer total time), but here is how it has been broken down (in general) for us:
14 days for bonding period
court between day 15 and 21
14 day wait for paperwork to clear
approx 7 days in Almaty to get final paperwork done
