New and in need of advice

Hello Everyone,

I am seriously considering adopting from Kazakhstan and would be very appreciative of any guidance you may have to offer. Has Kazakhstan stopped accepting dossiers? I thought I read that on a post on this forum. I originally started the process to adopt from Ukraine but things seem really uncertain right now and I do like the idea of adopting as young as possible which is not very easy in Ukraine. I submitted my I-600A in September and am due to have my first visit with my social worker for my home study in a couple of weeks so I know I need to decide before going any further with my home study. My understanding is that I can change my country on the I-600A form since I have not received approval yet. Does anyone know how to do this?

Also, can anyone please send me a PM with a recommendation for an agency for Kazakhstan? Preferably one that has had success with adoptions for single women as I am adopting as a single parent. I would like to adopt a girl as young as possible. Just one more question; if I was able to have my dossier ready to submit in February, any guesses how long after that before I may be able to travel? I am comfortable with a blind referral.

Thank you everyone. I most sincerely appreciate your time and advice.

Best regards,
B

We have been trying in Russia to adopt since March. We are just now in the process of getting a new dossier done and waiting on the new requirments for KAZ. I just put in the mail on Thursday a I-824 ( may not be right name) to INS and $200 to change countries to KAZ. It is really a simple form.

Good luck on this journey. You are in for a ride of a lifetime!!! EVeryones say it is well worth the bumps.

Kazakhstan is accepting dossiers. Any that were in the consulate (the first step in the process) were returned to add some new required forms. I PMed you with an agency recommendation.

Also, you do not have to chose your country until later, even with the SW. That process takes 1 - 3 months depending on your SW. In the beginning, there will be more general things you need to complete, so you should be able to chose your contry later.

i wouldnt wait on picking a country

Having adopted from Kaz in Jan 05, we are now adopting our second child from China, and our homestudy is completely different this time around. There are different requirements with the homestudy depending on your country, so I would respectfully suggest covering that issue with your SW at the time of your interview.
