Exclamation Problem in Kaz

I have a friend in Kaz right now. She went with the intent of adopting a girl under two. The only child that the "Baby House" has shown her is a three year old boy. They have told her that others at the orphanage are not available to be seen. They also told her that if she goes to another region/orphanage, that she will forfeit any rights to adopt this boy. She is very unsure of what to do. Her agency director has essentially been of no help and told her there are no guarantees. With as many success stories we have heard about, it is hard to believe this is her only option. Does anyone have any advice I can give to her? Thank you!

Hi.....I was wondering which agency your friend is using. I've been discovering all sorts of "interesting" things about the agency handling our adoption. Send me a private message if you like.

As for the lack of children at the baby house.........my wife and I preselected our daughter way way back in early '04. Chances are that all of the children in that particular baby house are all ready spoken for. I'm just curious if your friend HAD preselected a child through the agency and now found out the hard way that the child was not "set aside". That is one of my concerns that when we do get over there, our daughter will be long gone to another family. Hope to hear from you.................................Matt

Baby Girls

I can't be of much help but can tell you that she is not in an unusual situation from what I have seen. I was supposed to travel blind for a baby girl in Nov. but my agency and I had discussed that if there were not many "available" baby girls I would wait. When the time came they weren't comfortable sending me blind for an infant girl so I am waiting for a referral. The wait is hard but I didn't want to be put in the same situation your friend is now in. It is really unfortunate that her agency isn't being more helpful. They should at least be able to identify if there are other children who meet her requests in another region instead of just saying "no guarantees". If I were her I would push them for more information on the children potentially available in the other region.

We went this past summer with contracts for 2 boys - both were "on hold" for us. Upon arrival - neither boy was there - and it was VERY slim pickins to find others -- I would NOT reccommend going totally blind anymore - there are lots of kids, but all are either not paper-ready or are spoken for. We only had 1 choice to replace our first contract -- and had to go a totally different city and age group to find another - and the we only had 3 choices - and NO girls at all - in the entire region --- going blind is a total "crap-shoot"

I'm also curious to know if your friend "preselected" a child from a photolisting or if it was a "blind" referral? Do you know what agency she is using?

We had picked out a little girl way back and yesterday found out she was no longer available. Really not the agency's fault. We chose her before we had even started the process of paper work. They can only hold on to these children for so long.

I contacted the director today and was told that he has access to many little girls coming up very soon. I told him about the whole "only boys available" problem and he said "No way would we do that to you" He even said that if that was the case, he would refund all of our money and then double it. We will now be going over there blind but were told that upon arrival the lawyer will immediately show us the list of children available. So it sounds like there are children out there, it just all boils down to how strong the agency's relationship is with the orphanages. Just my $0.02................Matt

From what I know photo listings are illegal and not secure. I wouldn't trust it since the government does not allow it and it may cause more problems for the US to adopt from KAZ as it has in the past for this exact reason. I have read over and over again the problems you have encountered. I think it would be best emotionally if you didn't know in case the baby is not there for you. I wouldn't know what to do. This was one reason why I am no longer going with KAZ..the uncertainty is hard to deal with..but that is just my nature.

NO OFFENCE TO ANYONE PLEASE

How did you find out that she was no longer available, and how long has it been since you "picked her out"?

It is true there is no referral recognized in Kaz. So they can not officiall hold a child for you. From what I understood if you have a referral it's really just a promise that they will not show this child to other families coming to adopt that are not Kaz. But if they are Kaz then they must show all children. But agencies that do referrals do their best for you. End the end the goal is to find children families. We had a referral and had not problems, but were told from day 1 there are no guarantees. But if I did it again I would happily go blind. Kaz children are amazing no matter what.
