Dispelling myths about Kaz adoptions
Hi,
I just wanted to take some time to say that Kaz is a wonderful place to adopt from. I think lately there have been some rumors floating around that make it seem like Kaz isn't a good choice. (I don't mean necessarily on this board...) Anyway, I know the process is still fairly quick in comparison with other countries. The length of stay or the 2 trip option can be a draw back but it is certainly "doable". (People adopt from Russia and make the 2 trips.) The children are healthy and well cared for. My daughter is from Kaz and she was probably somewhat spoiled by her caregivers. I would certainly consider going back to Kaz. I think the key to any international adoption is working with a reputable agency. Please be sure to check references and talk to past clients before making any decisions. The agency you choose will set the tone for the whole process. Thanks for reading this! goldy |

I would like to add that the agency you choose will have a lot to do with your success of the entire process. If your agency has a good reputation at the embassy and with the Kazakhstan officials, things will go much more quickly and smoothly. Our agency, which is just ONE OF MANY good ones to choose from is Across the World. I would ask people adopting what agency they use and how smoothly things are going. Their agency may claim the slow process is the fault of Kazakhstan but, in actuality, not all agencies experience the same slow down. For instance, there are strict guidelines newly adopted parents must follow with their children-such as registering them at the embassy after adoption. Some agencies don't enforce this which understandably angers Kazakhstan officials. They are then much more particular and hesitant when others adopt through these agencies.

I would like to add that, from what I read at many bulletin boards, people who are going through independent adoptions and just using a lawyer seem to really be having trouble with slow downs and hurdles. I think a good agency is worth their weight in gold. :0)

As of October 03, Kazakhstan required the children to be registered in-country before parents returned to US.

Wonderful Experience in Kaz
I just wanted to say that my husband and I just adopted a beautiful 7month old caus. from Kaz. We made 1 trip, we were in the country for 22 days. We adopted from a region (esik) that waives the extra weeks stay in the country. The process was great and it was d/t the agency that we used. Again, it was wonderful...I hate to hear all of the bad conversations about Kaz right now. It's all about doing your research and choosing a good agency. The agency that we used has completed over 700 adoptions from kaz. They have a good network in Almaty. Anyone wanting further info about our experience , email me @ shelly@suscom.net
