Hello Sarah,

my husband and I decided on Kaz due to the health and the good care that is being taken of the children. We personally decided on another agency that was recommended to us by a friend.

I don't believe a one to three year old child to be old at all. My husband and I are looking for a one to 18 month old child (and this would be our first). I think you will be fine. As an older child I would probably more think of a five year old and above.

From my understanding, certain agencies work with certain orphanages. Also some agencies work with facilitators (kind of a middleman).

Not sure if that helps. I do wish you the best though.

Sette

Kazakhstan Timeframe

Hello Everyone!

We are new to the forums. We are currently in the process of adoption. We have completed oui first homestudy, and have submitted the adoption application. We have heard several things on the time it usually takes to adopt from Kazakhstan. We realize that the expected wait for a baby girl under the age of 16 months is up to 2 years, and a baby boy is up to 6 months. Has anyone experienced the process to go a little faster when adopting a baby girl? We are torn. We were originally going to go with a domestic adoption, but due to the extremely long wait times, we chose to go internationally. Right now with the timeframe of Kazakhstan adoption, our scale has balanced itself out and we don't know which way to lean. Any suggestions or information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
